We believe it's never too late to invest in your health. Resync Physiotherapy is proud to work alongside U3A Balsall Common — offering a physio-led Pilates group designed specifically for older adults, as well as one-to-one physiotherapy care.
What is U3A?
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a nationwide movement dedicated to supporting learning, activity and social connection for people no longer in full-time work. The Balsall Common branch is a vibrant local community with a wide range of groups, classes and events — all focused on keeping members engaged and living well.
Physio-Led Pilates for U3A Members
Resync now runs a dedicated Pilates group for U3A Balsall Common members, led by Abi Edmunds — HCPC-registered physiotherapist. The class is offered in two formats to suit different needs and abilities:
Sitting Pilates is ideal for those who find getting up and down from the floor difficult, or who need additional support. All exercises are performed seated in a chair, making it accessible for everyone regardless of mobility, balance or confidence.
Mat Pilates is a gentle floor-based class focusing on core strength, flexibility, posture and controlled movement. It's suitable for those who are comfortable working at floor level and want to build strength and stability in a supported environment.
Both classes are led by a physiotherapist — meaning every exercise is chosen with movement health, safety and rehabilitation in mind. This isn't just fitness; it's movement with purpose.
Why Pilates is Brilliant for Healthy Ageing
Pilates is one of the most effective forms of exercise for older adults. It builds core strength and stability, improves posture and balance, helps reduce the risk of falls, eases joint pain and stiffness, and supports confidence in everyday movement. Done regularly and with good technique — which is exactly what a physio-led class provides — the results can be transformative.
One-to-One Physiotherapy
As well as the group Pilates sessions, Abi is available for one-to-one physiotherapy appointments at the Resync clinic. Whether you're managing a long-standing joint problem, recovering after a fall, dealing with persistent back or hip pain, or simply wanting to move more confidently — she can help. Treatment is always collaborative, practical and tailored to you.
